Hockey

Hockey was started as a college game on the 21st of September 1990. Starting off with 30 players the first achievement of the team was in 1994 when they won the All-Island Schools Under – 15 Hockey Championship at Colombo. The players are trained by both the coaches Mr. M.A.M Ashraff and Mr. N. Paranitharan. Supported by the college mistress in charge of hockey Mrs. Pushpa Rajakaruna.

 

Since the year 1997 a total 171 Seethadevi hockey players have represented Sri Lanka at international level hockey championships up until today and many have successfully led the teams as captains. 

  • In 2003 six players represented the Sri Lanka National team at the AHF Cup Hockey Tournament in Singapore and won the silver medal.
  • In 2010 six players represented the Seethadevi SC Team for the S.C.C 6 aside Hockey Tournament in Singapore and won the silver medal.
  • In 2012 seven players represented the Seethadevi SC Team for the S.C.C 6 aside Hockey Tournament in Singapore and won the gold medal.
  • In 2013 eight players represented the Seethadevi SC Team for the S.C.C 6 aside Hockey Tournament in Singapore and won the gold medal.
  • In 2013 eight players represented the Sri Lanka National Hockey Team for the Asia Challenge Trophy Hockey Tournament in Thailand and won the silver medal.
  • In 2016 twelve players represented the Sri Lanka National Women’s Hockey Team for the SARG GAMES in India and won the silver medal.

 

    • All Island Under 14 hockey tournament. GOLD STAR 2020 – Champions.

            

    • Ministry of Education All Island school games 2019 – Champions.
    • Sri Lanka Inter Schools Under 18 Hockey Tournament 2019 – Runners-Up.
    • Sri Lanka Inter Schools Under 16 Hockey Tournament 2019 – Second. Runner-Up
    • All Island Under 14 Hockey Tournament. GOLD STAR 2019 – Champions.
    • Champions for the eighth time at the Blue & Gold Hockey 7’s 2019.
    • Four players including the team captain represented Sri Lanka at the Under 21. Women’s National Championship.

     

    • Ministry of Education All Island school games 2018 – Second Runners-up.
    • Sri Lanka Inter Schools Under 18 Hockey Tournament 2018 - Second Runner-Up.
    • Sri Lanka Inter Schools Under 16 Hockey Tournament 2018 – Champions.
    • All Island Under 14 Hockey Tournament. GOLD STAR 2018 – Champions.
    • Combined Schools National Hockey Tournament 2018 – Champions.
    • The most outstanding player and the best goalkeeper were awarded to the players of the school.

Dancing

The support of the dancing section is unique in enhancing the innate abilities and skills of the school students. the headdress festival,"ශීර්ෂ ආභරණ කලඑලි මංගල්‍යය"  is held in a grand manner once in two years to bless the talented dancers to begin their dancing career.  The school dancing teams have achieved in many All-island competitions during the years.

Volleyball

  • Gamini Ekanayaka was the first coach in charge of the volleyball team which was started in 1990. The inter house volleyball matches were held for the first time in 1991. 
  •  Mrs.Punchi Banda and Mrs.Susantha Premachandra were the next coaches of the Volleyball team in Seethadevi Girls College.
