Little Butterflies
Little Butterflies are the youngest members of the Sri Lanka Scout Association. They are also part of a very large scout family. Little Butterflies is a group of playful and happy people. Little Butterflies, little friends, scouts, leaders are known as the butterfly family. Girls between the ages of 5 and 7 are recruited for this group. The maximum number of members in a group is 24 and the minimum is 10. Members recruited to the Little Butterflies team must make a promise and it is their responsibility to keep it. It is mandatory to wear a special uniform at the Promise Ceremony. Butterflies are kind of group who help out at home sharing creative fun that they learn in groups.
The Little Butterflies team was started on March 25, 2004 at the High Girls' College. It is a group of twenty-four members. Four groups of 80 members were registered at Seethadevi Girls' College on July 7, 2014. Mrs. R. Thusitha Bandara, Mrs. S.L.N. Sitha, Mrs. H.M. Senehelatha was in charge of the team at the time. From the beginning of the Little Butterflies group until 2019, 4 teams have registered members so far. Mrs. D. Wijethunga and Mrs. H.J.P. Nilmini teachers are also in charge of the butterfly group.
